How to Share Open Educational Resources
You've created a presentation and are ready to share it. Perhaps you have a video and you want to make it available to others. All the content is cited and licensed (after all, you've followed the steps we've outlined). Now, where do you share it?
We can help you publish your syllabus, course, or learning module on the Open.Michigan OER repository. If you are publishing content from a medical or health sciences field, consider using MedEd Portal—a free peer-reviewed publication service and repository for teaching materials.
Visit the pages below to learn how to attach Creative Commons licenses to your work, how to use openly-licensed content to create OER, and how to attribute the licensed content that you use in your work.
License
The first step in creating open content is stating to others how you want them to use the content. This may seem complex; it’s not. Creative Commons makes this process of choosing a license remarkably easy.
Use
To build open content, you must use open content. Fortunately, there are a number of websites and repositories that you can browse to discover openly-licensed images, clip art, video, learning modules, music, and other relevant materials.
Attribute
We show you how to attribute open content and other materials you might use to assemble your educational resources and projects.
