This resource represents a small group session during which students take turns interviewing a Standardized Patient with faculty and staff facilitators. In addition, a one-on-one interview with a Standardized Patient. This exercise is primarily designed for first year medical students, but can also be utilized by other early health professions students needing to learn the skills of a medical interview. Students participate first in the small group medical interview process and then several months later, complete the one-on-one interview. The resource files included in this submission are the materials provided to students to prepare for the exercises and SP case materials.

The student preparation resources presented here were created to provide students with guidance on successfully completing two complementary communication skills Standardized Patient encounters. We have also provided facilitators with the Standardized Patient case materials associated with these two Medical Interviewing exercises which include the SP cases, training materials and checklist.
